Hours of work: 9.45 hours per week (TA2) and 3 hours per week  (MDSA), 8.45 - 13.00 Tuesday to Thursday.
Working pattern: Part-time, Term-time only (working for 39 weeks per year plus 5.85 weeks annual leave, which will increase after 5 years' continuous service)
As the position is part-time/term-time only, the above salary will be pro rata 
Closing date: Thursday 01 August 2024
Interview date: beginning of September.

Cross in Hand is a happy and successful Church of England Primary School in Heathfield, East Sussex. We have genuinely lovely children, supportive parents and a great team of staff. 

The successful applicant must have good communication skills and behaviour management skills and work well as part of a flexible team. They will be responsible for supporting children with additional needs. The main responsibility of the post will be to support teachers in the delivery of the curriculum, both by directly working with pupils and assisting in preparation of resources.

Being an Learning Support Assistant, in our school can include:

  • Working individually with students who require additional support
  • Assessing, monitoring and giving feedback to students, offering encouragement and motivation to succeed
  • Supporting students both inside and outside of the classroom as well as accompanying them on educational visits
  • Being in class supporting the students to make academic progress
  • Helping to facilitate inclusion and enable them to integrate with their peers
  • Attending meetings with parents, other professionals and a lead member of staff
  • Being actively involved in the sharing of good practice to ensure the student can access the full curriculum

This post is covered by the Childcare Disqualification Regulations 2018. 
The school will need to ensure that they are not knowingly employing a person who is disqualified under the 2018 Regulations in connection with relevant childcare provision.  Accordingly, the successful candidate will be required to demonstrate to the school, by completing a self-declaration form as part of the pre-employment checks process, that they have not been disqualified under the 2018 Regulations. If the preferred candidate is found to be disqualified under the 2018 Regulations, the offer of employment will be subject to the application by the preferred candidate to Ofsted for a waiver and the receipt of a waiver from Ofsted.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
