Are you looking for your first job, changing career or returning to work? This is the ideal job for you. We are looking for someone to join the Financial Services team as a Direct Payment Assistant.

Our team arranges and administers Direct Payments to Adult Social Care clients to allow them to pay towards their assessed care and support services. We help the most vulnerable people in East Sussex to ensure they receive the correct level of financial assistance towards care and support. We provide support to clients of Adult Social Care, the Public and Adult Social Care practitioners.

As well as dealing with calls from clients and both internal and external stakeholders, you will be processing Direct Payment requests from Adult Social Care practitioners to ensure clients can fulfil their care and support needs.

You will maintain client records, needing to be proactive and take responsibility for your own work. You will offer core support to Direct payment clients and process invoices.

Ideally you will have:

  • Good listening skills with a friendly and helpful telephone manner, you will have the ability to address people’s concerns with empathy and compassion
  • Ability to multi-task and deal with conflicting priorities to meet deadlines
  • Be confident assessing and processing financial data and information accurately
  • Be a team player
  • Be able to use a wide range of IT systems such a Word, Outlook, Excel etc. 
  • You will be a positive, proactive person who possesses a “can do” attitude and be willing to provide a wide range of support that supports the best outcomes for our clients and their representatives and carers
  • Desire to be part of a supportive and collaborative team

Interviews will take place in-person.

We are working in a hybrid approach, which means that we will support you to work remotely if you wish to, although some time in the office is required, this could be minimal and will be subject to agreement with your line manager. You will be fully supported within your probationary year which will include face-to-face support within the team and remotely by a ‘buddy’.

The role offers flexible working, with the requirement to work from St Mary’s House for one day per week (minimum), and the remainder from home or another location if you wish. During your probation period, you will be required to be in the office more than one day per week.

You will be entitled to 23 days annual leave which rises to 26 days after 5 years’ service. In addition, you are also entitled to 2 statutory days, and 2 concessionary days at Christmas.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
