Key developments in Adult Social Care

Putting People First
Putting People First – the name of a new directive from the Department of Health – sets out radical changes to the country’s social care system, based on individual choice and the personalisation of services.
Age Well East Sussex
The 'Age Well – East Sussex' project aims to improve some care services for older people (mainly over 65) in different parts of East Sussex. This £39 million project will create new buildings to help us care for older people. These buildings will be at Moorehurst, Westfield, Harvard Road, Ringmer, The Ridge at Queensway, Hastings and Ridgewood Rise, Uckfield.
Milton Court, Eastbourne
A 12 month development starts in Autumn 2008, to transform Milton Court in Eastbourne. This new building will provide improved levels of service, such as respite, transitional and day-care services. Specialist support services will help those with depression, schizophrenia or anxiety.
Downlands Court
A £6.4 million extra-care housing scheme called Downlands Court is being built on the site of the old Downlands day centre in Peacehaven. Extra-care housing offers older people a ‘home for life’ with a 24-hour on site care team. Further information will be available later in 2008.
