Heathfield Local Area Transport Strategy

The Heathfield Local Area Transport Strategy (LATS) sets out the framework for transport investment in the town until 2014. A set of key objectives has been identified, from which the following transport proposals have been developed:

  • further pedestrian improvements and enhancements in Heathfield High Street
  • footway provision in Tilsmore Road
  • formal crossing points on the Cuckoo Trail
  • improve public transport waiting facilities
  • develop school travel plans and implement Safer Routes to School measures
  • junction improvements including A265/B2102 junction at Cross-in-Hand, A265/A267 junction and High Street/Station Road junction
  • improved management of visitor parking.

We have developed the Heathfield LATS in partnership with the Heathfield and Waldron Parish Councils, Wealden District Council and the Heathfield Partnership Trust. The programme will be delivered within the 'Small Towns Package' of our Local Transport Plan.
