Rethinking Rubbish: Tackling our waste issues together

We received EU funding to carry out this project with our partners in the UK and France. It ran between December 2004 – September 2007.

The aim of the project was to build a cross-border partnership to work and learn together about current waste management issues and:

  • develop solutions that can be used by others in the region
  • exchange good working practices
  • increase public awareness of waste issues.

Results and outcomes

The project had a number of themes on which the partners worked and learnt together.

You can read about the outcomes of the project, including bi-lingual case studies in our report:

Partners and project activities

The following partner organisations are involved in this project:

We carried out many different activities, including:

  • litter theatre shows and workshops at primary schools

  • a film to encourage young people and adults to think about recycling instead of throwing away objects that no longer have any personal value – watch clips from Don't Want It? Don't Waste it!.
